Alumni Board Report
Garrett Hall '85 | 03/03/2010
The Delt House is alive and well! The fraternity has a total of 26 pledges this year, bringing the number of active members to 71. (The Board’s target for becoming a top house on campus is 80 to 90 active members). Thirty-two men will be living in the Shelter next year led by a new and energetic group of chapter officers.
The chapter has implemented significant risk management policies to avoid the problems so often faced by fraternities on today’s college campuses. The chapter is also looking to maintain and improve close ties with alumni, and will be hosting an Alumni Tailgate during the Spring Football Game on April 17th. We hope to see you there.
Shelter Management
The property management function for the Shelter is performed by Alpha Management. This includes rent collection, minor maintenance and repairs, and operating budgeting/cost accounting. This is working extremely well in minimizing cost and maintaining an excellent, non-adversarial relationship between the Alumni Board and the undergraduate chapter.
Replacement of the Shelter’s windows and roof continues to be a significant future liability. The Board is continuing Capital Campaign planning.
Operating Budget and Annual Fund
The current operating budget of the house is healthy. But we need ongoing support of our Annual Fund to continue as an alumni organization. Please help us to reach our 2009-10 goal of to support the Board’s management of ongoing operations. (Donations can be made by calling 800-975-6699 or by mailing a check payable to “Michigan Delta Foundation, Inc.” to the return address on this newsletter.)
